The Kawlons have been in existence for at least a thousand years.
They are an indigenous people from the Kawlik region of the South Kivu province of Kenya.
The Kawlas have lived in the river valleys for hundreds of years.
In the early 19th century, the Kawlaas began to move into settlements in the city.
In the 1960s, the area became a tourist destination, and it was also home to the largest concentration of people of African descent living in the country at the time.
In 1986, the state government declared the area an urban area, meaning it could be developed as a suburb.
However, in 2004, the authorities decided to move the Kawls in a different direction, and the area was officially turned into an area of conservation.
The area is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
